I just got back from my very first time watching the B.A.D Girls. It ranks as one of my all-time favorite events. First off, the entire crowd was gorgeous. Second off, very diverse. Third, lots of women in pads throwing elbows and the occasional punch. Fourth, the half-time show with the Diamond Daggers was incredible. I'm hooked!

B.A.D ASS Pre-Bout Benefit

The Bay Area Derby Girls (B.A.D. Girls), one of the newest leagues to join the nation-wide, all-girl roller derby resurgence, are hosting a benefit show at Studio Z, on Saturday, September the 17th at 8:00pm to raise funds for their first public bout. Founded in August of 2004, the B.A.D. Girls currently consist of over 35 dedicated skaters, and are continually growing in numbers.

The Pre-Bout B.A.D. Ass Benefit will be the league’s last major fundraising effort before their October 22nd scrimmage. Not only will the evening feature live music by The Black Furies, Hammerlock, The Texas Thieves and The Luxury Sweets, but the skaters also plan to give the audience a small taste of what will take place on October 22nd at the B.A.D. Girls’ first public bout. The rock’n’roll line-up has graciously committed to playing the fundraiser, and due to the bands’ strong followings, event attendance has been projected at around 500.

“It’s easy: You wanna see tough girls in short skirts kick some serious ass on the rink?” asks bout project manager Motley Cruz ..06, “Just come to our party on the 17th and help make that happen.” Event proceeds will go to covering rink costs, hiring event security and staff, and securing lighting and sound systems for October’s bout.

Throughout the fundraiser, the B.A.D. Girls will be turning tricks on their wheels, arm-wrestling the audience, M.C.ing between bands, signing-up new recruits and showing off their moves. It’ll be hot.

Admission to the Pre-Bout B.A.D. Ass Benefit is $10.00 presale, $15.00 at the door. When: Thursday, April 7

Where: Studio Z in San Francisco, 314 11th Street (across from Slim’s)

What: A Fun-raiser to help the Bay Area Derby Girls buy a first-aid kit (you’d be surprised how much we need it!), rent practice space, purchase gear, pay for a coach, get medical insurance and someday maybe even build our very own banked track to skate on!

Who: San Francisco bands (TBA), you, and the B. A. D. Girls in full effect, of course!

This promises to be a hellraising night you’ll never forget with loads of raffle prizes to be won, a spanking booth, plenty of booze, rock & roll, and scantily clad girls on skates!
